This means that when you place an order AMSOIL immediately authorizes the dollar amount of the available items included on your order to your credit card. We only authorize your card for the value of the product(s) currently available. Backordered items will not be authorized to your card until they are available for shipment.
NOTE: An authorization does not mean your card has been charged. Think of authorizations as a reservation placed upon your credit limit – it means that there is a sufficient credit limit so as to charge your card once items are shipped and not until.
Here’s how it works –
When the order is finalized the full amount of the available products is authorized to your credit card. For example, if your order totals $100 and $35 of the total is for backordered products AMSOIL only authorizes your credit card for $75 at that time. The credit card will not be authorized for the backorder items until they are available for shipment.
At the time your products are shipped the dollar amount of the shipment is settled to your credit card. The dollar amount that was authorized at the time the order was placed should be released generally within 24-48 hours. However, each bank/credit card company sets these guidelines. It could possibly range from 3-30 days.
Authorization means that this amount is held on your credit card and will be settled when the product is shipped to you. It does not mean AMSOIL is charging your card before the products are shipped. Some credit card companies use the terminology “pending” instead of authorized.
If you are unsure of the status of a transaction on your credit card contact your credit card company first to find out if the transaction has been authorized or is pending versus settled. If you have further questions about transactions on your credit card contact AMSOIL Dealer & Account Services via phone at (715) 399-6348 or via email at [email protected].
Please note: when placing an order for pick-up at the warehouse, if you hold the products with your credit card the card will be authorized for the amount of your order even if you intend to pay by check at the warehouse. The authorization should be removed within the terms of your bank/credit card company guidelines.
